Actress Ayu Azhari, who starred in Telegram (2001), Without Mercy (1995) and Java Burn (1989), is now helping promote the 2008 Indonesian Tourism Pageant.
"I fully support this kind of tourism pageant," Ayu, who is married to the vocalist of American rock band White Lion, Mike Tramp, was quoted as saying by Antara.
Ayu said she believed the pageant would contribute greatly to the tourism industry, which, she added, had not yet been fully developed.
"Many countries, especially those rich in cultural traditions, depend on tourism. Our country is, of course, rich in traditions ... it is too bad if we cannot use them to boost our tourism industry," she said.
