Expo Zaragoza Visitors Amazed by and Praised Indonesia Pavilion

Up and until 5th day of the Expo Zaragoza, 20,600 visitors have accessed the Pavilion. Majority of them were amazed by what they saw as they wrote in the guest book praising words such as "fantastico, muy interesante, fenomenal, pretty, original".

Through some plasma TV placed at the end of the exhibits flow in the pavilion, visitors can watch the film on progress of Indonesian water infrastructure technology. Besides those, tourism films attracted a lot of watchers. Many took pictures with the artifacts as background. “The Indonesia Pavilion is the joint work of several government departments including the Department of Culture and Tourism”, said Iwan Nursyirwan, Director General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works who is also the Commissioner of the pavilion. The general theme of Expo Zaragoza is Water and Sustainable Development. Indonesia Pavilion embraces the sub theme “Reassessment of Tradition, Culture, Art and Identity related to Water” by telling the history of Indonesian people in managing their water resources from ancient time until today. Several Asian pavilions are using this theme as well although differently implemented.

On 22 June, Pavilion Indonesia will perform a cultural event at the Balcony of Cultures in the Expo Zaragoza. A group of traditional dancers and musicians from West Sumatra will entertain expo visitors.
The Minister of Public Works is set to open the event. All commissioners or directors of existing pavilions are expected to attend the cultural performance which starts at 4 pm.

Expo Zaragoza will take place until 14 September 2008 and the organizing committee expects to see 8 million visitors during the 93 days show. As many as 140 pavilions are participating in the Expo covering countries and institutions as well as non-government organizations. Cultural performances from all over the world are planned during the whole period. Expo Zaragoza was opened by Juan Carlos, the King of Spain who was here with Queen Sofia.
