Pranoto's Gallery in Ubud, Bali Presents 'Flower Power' an Exhibition by Kerry Pendergrast and Nyoman Wirdana.
(7/5/2010) Pranoto's Gallery on the main road in Ubud is home to a two-person exhibition through July 30, 2010" - "Flower Power" featuring paintings and pastels by Nyoman Wirdana and Kerry Pendergrast.
Nyoman Wirdana
Born in North Bali in 1976, Nyoman Wirdana's early art training included two years of study with Retno Tri Joko in West Java. Returning home to Bali in 1998, he continued his studies with the famous artists Sugito, continuing an artistic legacy of one of Indonesia's most famous artists – Dullah, who mentored both Retno Tri Joko and Sugito.
In Bali, Nyoman has found a creative home at Pranoto Gallery where he creates paintings of landscapes, portraits, still lifes and the human form during the twice-weekly life drawing sessions held there.
The current exhibition focuses on flowers rendered in oil on canvas, allowing him full expressions of textured techniques, in combination with strong composition and color harmony.
Kerry Pendergrast
Born in Perth, Western Australia, Kerry Pendergrast first pursued theater and music which drew her to Bali where she met her future husband, Indonesian artist Pranoto.
In Ubud, Pendergrast began developing as an artist, attending and organizing model sessions at Pranato's Art Gallery which she established with her husband, Pranato, in 1996. Since her first solo exhibition a decade ago, she has held many exhibitions in Indonesia and Australia.
"Flower Power" runs through July 30, 2010 at Pranoto's Art Gallery on the Main Road in Ubud, Bali.
