3 Million to Visit Tanah Lot by Year’s End

Tanah Lot Hits Record Number of Visitors Despite Declining Domestic Visitor Totals

Visitor totals to the Tanah Lot Temple in West Bali hit a record 2,412,828 on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 surpassing the annual target of 2,367,713 with almost three months left to run in 2015.

I Ketut Toya Adnyana, manager of the Tanah Lot Complex, said on Thursday, October 8, 2015: “Achieving this targeted total of visitors also surpassed the total target set for 2014 of 2,372,418 people

Speaking to Bisnis Bali, Adnyana said the growth in visitors to Tanah Lot in 2015 has come from foreign tourists while domestic visitors have declined slightly. He blamed the downturn in domestic visitors to Tanah Lot on the explosion of Mount Raung in East Java that curbed domestic travel to Bali in July and August 2015.

Adnyana is optimistic that by the end of 2015, the Tanah Lot Complex will surpass the 3,125,205 visitors achieved for all of 2014.

Meanwhile, the management of the Tanah Lot Complex has undertaken a number improvements in the physical facilities, implemented a more orderly approach to kiosk operations and launched special promotions to the local market.

Improved security measures including CCTV cameras have also been recently introduced at Tanah Lot.
