Lombok and tourism

As a resident of Lombok Island for some years now, and a regular reader of The Jakarta Post, I took great pleasure in at last seeing some really positive coverage of this wonderful, but sadly forgotten island.

Lombok has lived in the shadow of Bali through the good times and of course the bad, and so for us to see that the local people, and visitors to this island are literally "putting their backs" into making it come alive again only goes to show what can be done when a few good people put their minds to it, and with the support and effort of media such as the Post, hopefully Lombok will again become the popular tourist destination that it fully deserves to be.
