An arts troupe of 20 students and lecturers of the Denpasar-based Indonesian Arts Institute (ISI) will take part in a week-long Ramayana Festival to be held in India on June 3-11, 2008, the ISI rector said.
"The Ramayana Festival in India will be attended by arts troupes from a number of countries, including the ISI troupe which will represent Indonesia," Prof. Dr I Wayan Rai S said here on Wednesday.
He said that the ISI troupe had been invited by the Indian Council For Cultural Relations (ICCR) of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The Bali`s arts team will hold three performances in three different cities in India.
I Wayan said that the ISI had previously taken part in the same activities organized by the ICCR.
In the meantime, a 16-member team of BAli`s Jegog Suar Agung arts group will also make a two-week visit to Japan to give dance and music performances on August 12 to 28, 2008.
They would appear on stage at least five times and conduct brief courses at several universities in Japan, chief of the Suar Agung arts group I Ketut Suwentra said here on Tuesday.
The theme of the traditional arts performances would be "A Road Towards International Bamboo", he said.
"We began our preparations as early as possible by focusing on the `power` of bamboo in the form of dances and music instruments, as well as in the scientific point of view," Suwentra said.
