Indonesian government has said it planned to develop 450 tourism villages across the country in 2011 to lure more visitors to the country.
"We hope our plan will be approved by the House of Representatives," an expert staff of the Tourism and Culture Minister, Surya Yoga, said Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said the tourism villages should really have a tourism potential to attract visitors.
"If the proposal is approved, each village will be given a grant of Rp 150 million (US$16,000)," he said.
This year, the government has developed 200 tourism villages.
