“We are pleased to have the Maastricht Convention Bureau join our coalition as the first member from The Netherlands,” ICTP Chairman Juergen T. Steinmetz said, “Maastricht combines the two most essential factors for a successful meeting - the quality and diversity of venues and those of the surrounding area.”
ICTP President Professor Geoffrey Lipman said: "The engagement of Maastricht is a very important development because of the long-standing commitment of this entire region to the green growth agenda. We plan to work closely with them to build on this in the year ahead."
Meetings, incentives, conventions, events, and exhibitions have been very successful for years in Maastricht and the surrounding area. This coupled with the environment, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) becoming important trends today, the meeting industry in Maastricht has gone green and has integrated the CSR policy. The Maastricht Convention Bureau helps visitors by providing information about green conferencing.
“We are proud to be the first member from The Netherlands! It is an honor to be part of ICTP and it’s only natural we joined: quality and sustainability are very important goals for us as well. Being part of ICTP will help us spread that word and helps us do our job: providing free, independent information, advice, and mediation regarding Maastricht and the surrounding area as a destination for conventions, meetings, or corporate events,” said Katja Zambib-Otten, MICE Coordinator for the Maastricht Convention Bureau.
