Survey Says Indonesians Are Becoming More Adventurous Travelers

Whether they’re eating fried insects in Thailand or bungee jumping in Australia, Indonesians are becoming much more adventurous in how they travel, a recent survey conducted by Skyscanner and unveiled on Monday showed.
When asked by the global travel site what the most adventurous activity they took part in during a recent vacation was, more than a third of 1,000 respondents from Indonesia answered that sampling local culinary delicacies was the most daring part of their journeys.
“Indonesians are true adventurers. Based on our recent research, it is clear that one cannot separate Indonesians from [their] love of food and sense of exploration,” Tika Larasati, Skyscanner’s market development manager for Indonesia, said.
Twelve percent of those surveyed said that seeking activities which provide an adrenaline rush, such as skydiving, bungee jumping or other extreme sports, are part and parcel of their holidays, while five percent of respondents said that they opt to go on hiking trips while away.
Some not-so-adventurous travelers said that the bravest things they did on vacation were visiting a foreign city (3 percent) and sleeping at a backpacker’s lodge (7 percent). (JakartaGlobe)
