On Tuesday, 27th January 2015 Skytrax officially recognized Indonesia’s national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia as a five-star airline.This is the highest rating granted to commercial airline companies around the world, thus placing Garuda Indonesia among the globe's only top seven airlines which include Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, and All Nippon Airways. Skytrax is a UK-based consultancy that runs airline and airport reviews.
“This award will be a challenge for all of us in Garuda to continue giving even better service and develop our business in order to offer the best service to customers,” stated Garuda's CEO M. Arif Wibowo in Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Through its official website, Skytrax first announced Garuda Indonesia’s new rating on 11th December 2014. In it, Garuda Indonesia is considered to have successfully improved its services based on its strict auditing system.
Skytrax president director, Edward Plaisted added that Garuda Indonesia deserved the five-star rating, as it had undergone massive improvement of its services. Further, Edward added that the carrier has shown excellent performance for the past few years.
Indonesia's Minister of Transportation, Ignasius Jonan, on his part commented that the five-star rating awarded to Garuda Indonesia is indeed an excellent achievement. “This is an extraordinary achievement and I believe that this has been attained through continuous hard work, consistency and commitment. I want Garuda to fly even higher to become the best carrier in the southern part of the globe ,” added Minister Jonan. (Indonesia.travel)
