Around 200,000 visitors are estimated to celebrate New Year's Eve at the Taman Impian Jaya Ancol amusement park complex in North Jakarta.
PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol media relations officer Anisa Naamin said some 2,000 personnel would be deployed to secure the occasion.
"In addition to internal security officers, we will also involve personnel from the Indonesian Military, the National Police and the National Scouts to secure the New Year's Eve celebration," said Anisa as quoted by Antara news agency on Thursday.
Ancol management has also prepared a parking area and 145 buses to reduce congestion in the park's surrounding areas.
A series of events, starting at 9 p.m., are set to attract visitors to Ancol. Some of the events include live music performances from local artists such as Wali Band, traditional Reog Ponorogo dance performances (a traditional Indonesian masked dance, commonly employing a lion mask), reggae music performances, culinary events, fireworks at Ancol Lagoon and a kecak dance at Ancol Art Market.
Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat will attend the celebration. (Jakarta Post)
