The Greatest Caldera Ride: Unveiling the Stunning Beauty of Lake Toba

The wondrous beauty of Lake Toba in North Sumatra will be unveiled in an exceptional way through a tour of  “Big Bike” motorcycles entitled the Greatest Caldera Ride
Initiated by Big Bikes enthusiasts calling themselves the H3 (Horas, Halak, Hita) Community, the tour will commence on 21st May 2016, starting from the town of Padang Sidempuan, in West Sumatra Province.

In collaboration with a number of automotive organizations including IMBI (Indonesia BI Bikes Organization), IMI (Indonesia Motorcycle Organization), and Vespa Motorcycle Community, the Greatest Caldera Ride will take on the total distance of 500KM across 7 regencies across the picturesque Bukit Barisan Mountain Range.

Aside from experiencing the fantastic beautiful landscapes along the route, riders will also visit some of the fascinating attractions around Lake Toba.

“We feel called to support the promotion of Lake Toba, especially now hat Lake Toba has been designated as one of the country's priority tourist destinations” said Efrinal Sinaga, Chairman of the Greatest Caldera Ride at the Wonderful Toba Fun Walk held at the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta on 15th May 2016, as reported by tempo.co. Drawing participation from about 10,000 people, the Wonderful Toba Fun Walk is part of pre-events held leading to the Greatest Caldera Ride.

Promoting Lake Toba as a prime tourist destination, the Community will also stage a range of special events this year, including: Batak in harmony International Music Festival in July in Jakarta and Balige (North Sumatra), Toba Gran Fondo Cycling in August, and the Samosir Toba Ultra Run on Samosir Island.

The largest Volcanic Crater Lake in the world, Lake Toba is truly one of the most amazing marvels of the world. At over 1,145 square kilometers, and a depth of 450 meters, the lake is highlighted with the Samosir Island in its center which is roughly the size of Singapore.

It’s hard to imagine a more scenic place to come and enjoy hiking, swimming and sailing although once you arrive it might be difficult to resist the anesthetizing effects of the lake. The cool clear water coupled with the relaxed atmosphere are among the draws for visitors who come  from across the world to the Lake.

Toba is also the place to come and enjoy the legendary Batak hospitality and their unique,  well preserved culture. The original home of the Batak Toba people, the Samosir Island has many traces of ancient traditions including stone tombs and traditional villages. (Indonesia.travel)
