Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya led an Indonesian delegation to the world`s largest tourism exhibition market that was attended by 10 thousand participants from 180 countries.
The opening of the exhibition, called "Internationale Tourismus Borse" (ITB), in Berlin, was also attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Havas Oegroseno on Tuesday night.

The Tourism Ministry`s Assistant Deputy in charge of Marketing in Europe Region 2 Agustini Rahayu said on Thursday that the tourism exhibition was visited by one thousand top-quality buyers and by no less than 110 thousand tour package buyers, out of the total of 160 thousand visitors this year.

Malaysia has taken up the ITB Berlin partner country mantle. ITB Berlin was the leading business platform for global tourism offers. Malaysia, which became the ITB Berlin partner country at the opening ceremony, officially presented the theme of the opening ceremony of "Colors of Malaysia" that took place at the City Cube Berlin, with 3,500 guests comprising VIP participating countries and industries.

This time`s thematic event of Malaysia, as the partner country, is "Successful Travel is in our nature". Indonesia was earlier the partner country in 2014.

Malaysian Tourism Minister Mohamaddin Ketapi praised the importance of his country`s role as a partner country of ITB Berlin 2019.

"Our advertising and promotion campaigns have been enhanced through digital marketing on social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, to increase our international presence and reach an increasingly mobile tourism market," he noted.

"We are very grateful to receive the title of `Official ITB Berlin Partner Country,`" he stated.

It attracts global attention and has the potential to reach key decision makers and leading industry players in the region, he added.
