Photo exhibition reveals forgotten Bali

A new photo exhibition is about to reveal some of the secrets of the Indonesian island of Bali that many foreign tourists have never seen.

The exhibition, to be staged by Italian Maurizio Rosenberg Colorni, will showcase black and white photos of the island paradise over a 70 year period - from 1890 to 1960.

"The photos reflect an obsession with nature, innocence and eroticism at the beginning of the 20th century," Colorni, told Adnkronos International (AKI) in Bali, where he has lived for 40 years.

Colorni, author of several books on anthropology, says he was convinced the project was needed because of indifference in Bali towards photo documentation.

The show, to be staged in Kuta, will open on 7 September and run until 23 November.
