Strandhill hosts Relief Fund Surf Contest 2007

THE first annual Strandhill Indonesian Relief Fund (SIRF) surf contest took place earlier this month (the weekend of Saturday, September 1/Sunday, September 2).

The competition attracted a host of top international and Irish surfers, all of whom battled it out for the largest pool of prizes ever seen in Irish surfing history.

Australian Ben Hannah took first place in the men’s open event and Shauna Ward took the women’s open title. Among the competitors was one of Sligo’s leading international surfers, Enniscrone native Cain Kilcullen.

Event organiser and one of the SIRF founders, surfer and Strandhill native Alan Mulrooney, was pleased with an impressive turnout of competitors and supporters.

  1. Cain Kilcullen is by far the best surfer in Ireland. Enniscrone is proud of you.
