Warning over bogus flights to Bali

Auckland police are warning people over making internet bookings for direct airline flights between Auckland and Bali, saying no such flights exist.

Detective Constable John Taylor told Fairfax Media 10 people have paid around $1000 on credit cards for return flights to Bali next month.

The quoted airline flight numbers and routes do not exist now, nor are they planned he said.

But he would not give details of the New Zealand-based website saying it could be an honest mistake.

"It does look legitimate," he said, adding that if he had been looking for a flight and came across the site, he too might have booked it.

People who complained to the police had subsequently tried to contact the company and had not succeeded and had thus complained to the police.
