Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X is expected to visit Japan at the end of this month to promote his province among the Japanese public , Japan-based Garuda Indonesia Area Manager M Arif Wibowo said here on Friday.
"The sultan will come to Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo to promote Yogyakarta and attend a function marking the reopening of a Garuda route between Nagoya and Denpast, Bali, on June 2, 2008," Arif Wibowo said.
He said Yogyakarta`s hereditary ruler would also attend a series of travel dialogs in the major Japanese cities of Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and Tokyo as part of his activities to promote his province.
"The sultan will be fully engaged in the travel dialogs with Japanese travel industry leaders, tourism associations and aviation industry representatives," Arif said, adding that the governor`s presence in Japan would have a positive impact on Indonesia`s tourism industry, Yogyakarta`s in particular.
He pointed out Yogyakarta`a sultanate had long-standing relations with Japan`s Kansai region which covers Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto.
