There's nothing like the Jakarta Highland Gathering

Jakarta Highland Gathering is an annual charity event for the international community that takes after the traditional Highland Games in Scotland. When it was first held in 1975, the founder of Jakarta Highland Gathering Committee envisioned a day that would bring together both local and expatriate residents from all background of cultures and nationalities in a unique and unforgettable Scottish Highland Games experience in the tropics.

Jakarta Highland Gathering becomes a 2-day event, with the first day (Saturday, 28 May) being dedicated to a community development program “Giving Kids a Sporting Chance”. This program provides free professional coaching to thousands of deserving Indonesian children in various fields of sports, giving them the opportunity to learn different sporting games, stay fit, and get inspired by their sporting idols. This initiative, which is planned in collaboration with British Chamber of Commerce (Britcham) and British Council, is expected to generate positive media exposure and to promote the London Olympics in 2012.

This event (Sunday, 29 May) will continue to feature the classic Highland Games, where there will be simultaneous competitions and shows from morning till evening. The emphasis on Jakarta Highland Gathering 2011 will still be focused on families, ensuring that everyone enjoys themselves while the children are entertained in a supervised, safe, and secure environment
