President Yudhoyono to inaugurate Lombok int`l airport Oct 3

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to inaugurate the newly built Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara province on October 3, 2011, a spokesman said.

"The schedule remains as it is after an official of the Presidential Palace confirmed it (the president`s plan to inaugurate the airport) on October 3," the head of the West Nusa Tenggara provincial transportation, communication and information service Ridwan Syah said on Friday.

The inauguration might be postponed due to the President`s hectic schedule. However, the airport would start operating on October 1, 2011 as scheduled, he said.

Vice President Boediono inspected the construction of the airport on July 11, 2011. During the visit, he held a dialog with the building contractor of the international airport.

At that time, Boediono revealed the commitment of state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I and other relevant parties to operate the airport starting October 1, 2011.

Boediono said he did not want further delay in the operation of the airport and asked West Nusa Tenggara Governor M. Zainul Majdi to continue to monitor the construction of the airport.

At the meeting with Boediono, PT Angkasa Pura I operations and technical director Harsono said great part of the project had been completed, while the construction of a passenger terminal was 85 percent completed
