West Lombok to open culinary centers

The West Lombok regency administration in West Nusa Tenggara province will build a culinary center on a highway leading to the Lombok International Airport to create a new economic hub.
“The traffic to Lombok International Airport will be quite high. People who leave the region may look for restaurants or souvenir shops,” West Lombok industrial and trade agency head Joko Wiratno said in Gerung, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday as reported by Antara news agency.
Joko said that the culinary and souvenir centers will be built in two locations: at the Sulin Bridge near the border with Central Lombok regency and around the Lombok Barat Bangkit traffic circle.
He said the project was aimed at creating business opportunities for local residents, as well as meeting the needs of travelers.
The regency administration will also build six other such centers in Jembatan Kembar, in front of the Tripat Gerung General Hospital, Batulayar, Pusuk, Gerimak and Keru. These areas will be allocated for street vendors and already have fruit centers to assist development of the culinary centers.
Lombok is popular for its pristine beaches and beautiful scenery. Several famous international tourist destinations include Senggigi beach and Gili islets
