Britain-based airline service reviewer Skytrax named Indonesian national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia the World's Best Regional Airline during an event in London on Thursday.
Garuda was also named the Best Regional Airline in Asia.
Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted handed the awards to Garuda Indonesia president director Emirsyah Satar at an event at the Farnborough International Airshow in London on Thursday.
Garuda bested nominees from China, Europe and southern America, among other regions across the globe, Indonesian news portal kompas.com reported.
Garuda, which inked a $2.5 billion deal to purchase 11 A330-300 planes from Airbus during the visit of British Prime Minister David Cameron in April, also won the Best International Airline award for January 2012 from Roy Morgan Research, beating Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand, among others.
