As many as 53 reog (masked dance) groups from across the country are participating in the 19th National Reog Festival in Ponorogo, East Java.
The festival started on Saturday and will last until Tuesday.
The festival’s committee head, Budi Satrijo, said Saturday that the reog groups were competing in the dance contest to win the President Trophy.
Some 29 participants come from Ponorogo and the remaining 24 from various parts of Indonesia. The festival is being held in Ponorogo's main square, as reported by tempo.co.
According to committee member Yudha S, participants from Ponorogo would be performing on Saturday and Sunday while other groups would strut their stuff on Monday and Tuesday. (Jakarta Post)
