As reported by Beritabali.com, the cruise ship was using the port once preferred for Dutch passenger liners in the 1920s and 1930s, but less used in modern times with modern cruise ships typically calling at Padang Bai and Benoa.
Tourism and port officials in Buleleng, North Bali said the ship visit would enliven tourism in the island’s North. To welcome the passengers special dances were performed on the pier as passengers disembarked. The head of the tourism and culture office for Buleleng, Ketut Warkadea, said improvements in the port facilities and services would be needed to attract more ships’ visits.
While the 32,000 ton 198-meter long Seabourn Odyssey visited he northernmost port of Bali its 420 passengers paid visits to Menjangan Island, Sembiran and undertook city tours in Singaraja. Departing Celukan Bawang in the late afternoon the luxury cruise ship set sail for Lombok. On December 23, 2013 the Seabourn Legend is expected to call at Celukan Bawang.
