Garuda will promote tourism in east Indonesian regions

National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will promote tourism potential in east Indonesian regions such as Kalimantan (Borneo), Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, Vice President of Garuda Indonesia for Eastern Areas Rosyinah said here on Monday.

"These efforts are part of the Explore the Beauty of Indonesia (EBI) program, based on which we will help to promote tourism potential in Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, and Kalimantan islands," Rosyinah stated after signing a memorandum of understanding with the heads of the provinces in Kalimantan Island on the tourism promotional activities.

According to her, Garuda Indonesia will promote 44 tourist destinations in 11 provinces in the four big islands of Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, and Kalimantan.

Moreover, Manager of the EBI program I Wayan Supatrayasa noted that the national flag carrier is committed to promote tourism potential in the regions, while the local governments promise to improve and develop the tourist destinations under their respective jurisdictions.

"We will create 4- to 5-minute-long video clips for each island and will play them onboard flights, or during promotional activities," Supatrayasa affirmed. (Antara)
