In the upcoming World Travel Market (WTM) at the ExCel in London, Indonesia will be present with a strong delegation led by Tourism Minister, Arief Yahya,, senior marketing officials of the Tourism Ministry and 52 trade representatives, comprising 16 tour operators, 35 hotels, Garuda Indonesia Airlines and the Tourist Office of Tana Toraja in the northern mountains of South Sulawesi.
WTM is known as the second largest tourism event, second only to the ITB in Berlin. Last year WTM attracted no less than 5,000 exhibitors from 186 countries, 9,000 top decision-making buyers, and 3,000 UK and International media. This year WTM will take place from 2 - 5 November 2015.
Occupying a pavilion of 299 sq. meters, at booth no. AS.300, Indonesia this year carries the theme: “Wonderful Indonesia : Maritime and Living Cultures”. The Pavilion is easily recognizable from far by the frame of a life-sized Bugis Phinisi schooner set with open sails.
Besides Business Discussions and meetings with regular and potential buyers and media who come not only from the UK but also from across Europe, Indonesia at WTM provides daily cultural performances, and demonstrations on how the bamboo musical instruments called “angklung” and “sape” are crafted. Coffee lovers should not miss a cup of delicious aromatic, Indonesian hot coffee offered at the coffee counter courtesy the Dharmawangsa hotel in Jakarta and the Indonesian Coffee Association.
