Garut to develop volcanic tourist sites

The administration of Garut district, West Java province, is developing the volcanic tourist sites in Talaga Bodas and Mount Papandayan, Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan said here, Wednesday.

Mount Papandayan is located in Cisurupan Sub-district, while Talaga Bodas is in the Pangatikan Sub-district, he stated.

"We have got a lot of agro-volcanic tourist sites," he noted.

Mount Papandayan is located in the southern line of Garut, while Talaga Bodas is in the northern line of Garut, adjacent to the Tasikmalaya district, he declared.

These tourist sites have naturally striking views, which have been formed through volcanic eruptions and craters.

Mount Papandayan is a complex stratovolcano with four large summit craters.

Talaga Bodas has a captivating crater filled with water and constitutes the sulfur exploitation project. Tourists visit the tourist site to bathe in the hot water, containing sulfur, he observed.(Antara)
