First launched in 2013, the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants is an industry-based selection process created by the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, an influential group of over 300 leaders in the restaurant industry, called to serve with their expert opinion of Asia’s restaurant scene.

Winning the top spot among Asia eateries was Gaggan in Bangkok.
The only Bali Restaurant making the 2018 list of Best Asian Restaurants was Locavore in Ubud, Bali ranked at #21 and lauded for “modern European cooking with hyper-local ingredients in mountainous Ubud.”
Managed by Ray Adriansyah and Eelke Plasmeijer, Locavore champions local ingredients in dishes showcasing, for example, Wagyu beef from Malang and oysters from Sumbawa. The dedication to local products does not stop with food ingredients but also includes tableware – such as plates and glassware – sourced locally.
Locavore also reigned supreme in the category "The Best Restaurant in Indonesia" – hailed for its third appearance on the prestigious list after ranking #22 in 2017 and #49 in 2016.
