Indonesian tourism players are being facilitated to participate in a Malaysian tour and travel promotion event called Matta Fair 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from September 4 to 6, 2009.
"We are facilitating tourism players to participate in Matta Fair 2009," said I Gde Pitana, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism international promotion director, said here, reports Antara news agency.
He said the ministry had prepared some 180 km square meters of space for tourism players at the Malaysian tourism promotion fair.
Matta Fair 2009 is an annual tourism promotion event held by the Malaysian government and coordinated by the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism.
The event had become one of Asia Pacific's greatest shows, and the number of visitors to the fair was estimated to reach 10,000 people per day.
In Matta Fair 2008, the event was participated in by several Asia Pacific countries from China to Australia.
Pitana said recently the number of Indonesian tourism players who want to participate in Matta Fair 2009 had reached 90 percent of the stated quota.
"Of the 180 square meters of space we have prepared, 90 percent has been booked," he said.
Pitana said Matta Fair 2009 was a high-profile event, considering that Malaysia was one of Indonesia's potential tourism markets.
Malaysia had become the second largest contributor to Indonesia's tourist dollar earnings after Singapore, he said.
In 2008, Malaysian tourists visiting Indonesia numbered 818,000.
In 2010, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism targeted as least 1-1.2 million Malaysian tourists to Indonesia.
"Matta Fair 2009 is an event to boost Indonesian tourism," he said.
