Bali Hotels Association Bullish on 2013

BHA Sees Strong Year Ahead for Bali Tourism in 2013

The Bali Hotels Association (BHA) is looking forward with enthusiasm to 2013 saying, via a formal press release, “the eyes of the world focus on Bali for many reasons.”

The BHA points to the major APEC Summit to be held in September 2013, a visit by the Miss World Pageant - also in September, and a meeting by the World Trade Organization in December as proof of the island’s sustaining popularity as an international meeting place.

Fueling BHA’s optimistic view are major improvements in the island’s infrastructure slated for completion in 2013.
These physical improvement include an US$280 renovation of the Bali Ngurah Rai Airport; an US$258 million toll way connecting Sanur – Bali’s airport and Nusa Dua; and an US$15 million underpass project at Simpang Siur.

The BHA also welcomed a number of new starred hotel projects expected to open their doors in 2013 that include:

  • Le Meridien, Jimbaran
  • Mantra Resort, Nusa Dua
  • Sofitel, Nusa Dua
  • Regent, Sanur
  • Westin, Ubud
  • Courtyard by Marriott,  Seminyak
  • Holiday Inn, Benoa
  • Centara Grand, Nusa Dua
  • Maya, Sanur
  • Double Six, Seminyak

The BHA also cites Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) figures counting more than 22,000 hotel rooms available in Bali at the end of 2011. In 2012, more than 3,400 additional hotel rooms entered the market. Another 4,700 rooms are scheduled for opening in 2013, and a further 4,100 rooms from 2014 to 2016.
